This is our current news letter

Dear Parents,

As we come to the end of what has been a very busy and successful term I would like to thank you most sincerely for your continued support and draw your attention to the following points.

Green School Flag:As I am sure you are aware, the children have been very busy preparing for their Biodiversity Flag over the past few months. The school is awash with colour and the walls proudly display the beautiful projects, art work and survey results that the children have created. Please come in and have a look when you get a chance. On Thursday last we had our Green School Inspection and Mark Molloy from Galway County Council was very pleased with our committee and the school in general. A big thank you also to Ms. Burke, our Green School Coordinator, who has worked over the past 18 months. We will know after the Easter if we have been successful.

Dolores Keegan:On Wednesday 28th March, Dolores Keegan will visit our school garden and talk to the children from 3rd class to sixth class about biodiversity. We also hope to begin sowing seeds in the garden.

School Milk:There has been a great response to the milk scheme recently introduced in the school and the children seem to be enjoying the benefits. In relation to payment I have been informed by Cool Milk that they are in the process of setting up a facility on their website which will allow parents to pay them directly using electronic payment. As soon as it is up and running I will let you know.

Drop Off Times:I would remind all parents that 9:10 am is the official drop off time. A teacher will be on morning duty from this time until 9:20 am each morning. Children must remain with their parents until 9:10am.

Car park:In relation to the roundabout I would remind you that you should move up if there is a free space in front of you in order to avoid congestion. I would also ask people to refrain from parking on the road as it obstructs the view when leaving the school car park. If you wish to come into the school please park in the spaces provided at the rear of the car park. Thank you for your support with this.

School Lotto:Thanks to all who have been supporting our school Lotto over the past weeks. We hope that this will bring a significant additional income to our school at a time when it is greatly needed. The winners of last week’s draw were 1st Prize Margaret Cotter €100, 2nd Prize Marie Qualter €20 and 3rd Prize Olive Morrissey €10. A special thank you to Martha Brennan who has worked tirelessly organising and promoting the Lotto.

Tag Rugby:The children from 3rd Class to 6th Class will take part in the Annual Tag Rugby Extravaganza on Thursday 29th at Corinthians Rugby Club. We will leave the school at 10:00am and return back at 2:00pm. This year we have chosen Norway as our country. The children have studied Norway at school in their Geography lessons and on the day they will dress in traditional outfit for the Parade of Nations. If each child could bring €5 for the bus it would be much appreciated. On the morning of the 29th the school will open at 8:50am to allow for those who wish to get their faces painted. A big thank you to the parents who are coming in to help out with the face-painting. Please ensure your child has sun cream and extra drinks for this outing.

Easter Holidays:The school will close at 12:30 pm on Friday 30th March and reopen on Monday 16th April.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and wish you a peaceful Easter break.

Le gach dea-ghuí,

Mark Hannon
